Discussion #7 — United? Or Divided? Will Hillary Clinton's Delegates Unite behind Obama?
started on 2008-08-26@01:51:57(PM/UTC) [closed]
Are Clinton supporters in search of a catharsis ... an emotional release that enables them to let go of their allegiance to Hillary Clinton's campaign in order to support Barack Obama? Or are they ready to switch their support to the Republican Party candidate, John McCain?

Today's vote closes at 5 PM, Tuesday, August 26th. Results will be sent as a 60-second news broadcast to Public News Service (PNS). If PNS stations pick it up, it will be broadcast via public radio in 38 states, representing over 4,000 stations, across America. Daily voting will continue through the end of the DNC, August 28th. Votelink is providing the only collaborative *Voice of the People* during the Democratic National Convention. This, then, is an invitation to "think together for the common good."

Hilary is a politician, and knows how to work politics FOR this country.  That means working the system, and rallying her supporters for the party WIN.  If she does not, she also loses party power.  She will encourage them, and to do so, must show them where they are the same, and how this will get their desires met, even without her in the helm.  With a Democratic president, AL democrats are more powerful, even the well positioned senator from New York.

It's possible that the McCain ad that shows a Clinton supporter switching to the GOP will actually create the catharsis needed. They will vote Democrat.

While the McCain team can pay someone - an actress? - to "act as if" they are a Hillary supporter to create the desired effect in the ad, they can't pay someone to change their values. IMO, Clinton supporters know deep down that they value ideals espoused by Obama as well.
